Guess what…I’m going to Ghana, Again!

T-minus 14 days until Olivia and I depart for Akatsi, Ghana. This will be my sixth trip with RHC. I have had the privilege to teach and connect with the amazing Kekeli women every year since the start of the organization in 2010. And although it takes 20+ hours to reach West Africa, each time it has felt like returning home. I am so thankful that I continue to have this opportunity every year.

We will be teaching a couple hot new topics this trip, including a money management curriculum and latrine promotion! We will also be reviewing Home Based Life Saving Skills, which was the previous course that was taught. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again and getting the Kekeli women excited about teaching a new group. We will be adding another 10-20 women from as many different villages! It’s so fun to see this program continue to grow bigger and brighter.

I am able to continue to work in Ghana for numerous reasons, but there are three groups of people in particular that truly allow me this special opportunity. First and foremost, the hard-working Kekeli women who make this program possible. There would be nothing without their dedication to creating a healthier Akatsi. Secondly, YOU, our supporters, who believe in this program and the positive impact it has on everyday life for these women and their villages. We could not do this without your contributions. And finally, the Executive Team, both in the States and in Ghana, you are all amazing. You all bring something to the table that allows this organization to run smoothly and effectively. This great program would not be possible without your wisdom, creativity, and commitment. Thank you to you all- Kekeli women, donors & supporters, and all my team members for granting me this chance to find a second home, half a world away.
