Give for Ghana Fundraiser – Join us Nov. 30th in Portland!

Come one, come all!  We are having a fundraiser to support our projects that will be taking place in Akatsi, Ghana, in January 2013!

The fundraiser will be in Northwest Portland, OR, at the Lucky Lab Beer Hall on November 30th. Drop by anytime between 6 and 10pm.  100% of the donations received will go straight to our programs and the people of Akatsi.  This event will help raise funds to support several programs the RHC will run on their upcoming trip to Ghana in January 2013 and throughout the new year.  These programs include leadership training for our existing group of village health promoters and a new health education program with a second cohort of women from the Akatsi District.

Our health education program, the “Kekeli” program, has been a great success, and we will be taking the 20 currently educated women through a week-long leadership training course. The rest of our time in Ghana will be dedicated to training a new group of “Kekeli” women in health matters such as malaria, nutrition, first aid, hygiene and sanitation, maternal and sexual health, and signs and symptoms of disease and illness. These women will continue to be trained throughout the new year to maintain their skills and ongoing funds will be needed for this purpose as well.  If you would like to learn more about who we are and what we do, please visit our website (rhcollaborative.org).

And if you’re in the Portland area please stop by the Lucky Lab Beer Hall some time between 6 and 10pm on November 30th! We will be raising money through a raffle and a silent auction. All donations will be gladly accepted by cash, check, or credit card and are tax deductible (click here to learn more about the current status of our tax exemption). There will be appetizers provided and drinks and entrees for purchase.
