Between trips: what goes on when we’re away?

Most of our public focus surrounds the trips we take to Ghana about twice per year.  The last was in December and the next will be this coming August.  The bulk of our new trainings happen on these trips, where the women spend one or two weeks in full day sessions learning the material they then teach their villages.  This is our educational model of change.

However RHC doesn’t start and end with these trips.  In the months between, our Ghana staff works hard to maintain our programs in the Akatsi North and South Districts.  This ensures the integrity of our work and supports the women as they do the important work of transforming their communities.

There are three vital members of the RHC Ghana team.  David is the country director, coordinating the funds, trainings, and overseeing the monitoring.  Georgina is the lead monitor, visiting villages to ensure the teaching is happening as planned.  Godwin is our communications director, helping facilitate our communication with the Ghana team via the web and assisting with monitoring.  Together, the three part-time staff members host a meeting every other month where the women meet in the central Akatsi town for a half-day to refresh their skills, replenish their supplies, and support one another.

The work of RHC could not continue without the work of our Ghana support team.  Your contributions help maintain their efforts and fund the ongoing meetings of the Kekeli group.  Below are some photos of a recent meeting and various village sessions.  The first photo is taken under our recently constructed meeting space, which is far quieter (and rent-free!) compared to our previous meeting sites.
